With increased community participation, community energy projects actively seek to involve local communities by using fuel from natural resources. By providing the local community an opportunity to invest and share directly in the project's profits, which create additional tax revenue for the local and state governments, and in some cases provide power to local individuals and businesses.
Community renewable projects create a wide range of social benefits: decreased dependency, creation of high-quality jobs in rural areas, and a much needed supplemental revenue stream for the agricultural community.
Community renewable projects are just beginning to break ground, as carbon emissions savings become a tradable commodity and clean technology becomes readily available, broader efforts are being made everyday to move us toward clean energy and a healthier society.
